2021-2022 Week 19

We went through many battles this week. I mean, historical revolutionary battles. Some of them we skimmed through, some of them we watched videos for them. And we talked about Valley Forge, watched a video, and wrote articles on them. I realized that my children are definitely more open to writing if they can type (and do edits) We researched on Baron Von Steuben and John Adams. For Science we finished up Botany with the co-op and will go on to Zoology next week. The girls are excited. Big Sis did some experiment on Chemistry and continued to learn more about Transcarucasia (Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan) She finished Family Romonov. PREPPER is offically a Pre-K'ler but he might move on quite quickly...yikes.

2021-2022 Week 12-13

HISTORY For week 12 we listened to SOTW for the chapters on India, Japan and China. For week 13, we began the Homeschool in the Woods American Revolution Unit study . I'm so excited! The girls did a newspaper article on the French and Indian War. We studied the French and Indian War, George Washington, and George III. This lapbook component was fun! It was interesting to learn about the government during the colonial times. For Science co-op we learnt about pollinators and did a fun pollinating activity. 9th Grade Big Sis made a Nordic star for her studies on the Scandinavian countries. And she made Quiche Lorraine for France. She did some fun and exciting experiments for Chemistry this week. 11th GRADE Big Bro turned 16 this week. In a blink of an eye. This was my very first post in 2010, when he began Pre K at home. Wow. I've learnt and grown so much since then. Well, yes, I'm sure he too. =) PREPPER He continues to have fun with his books. And learning to write. Yes, e...

HISTORY We learnt about William Penn's Holy Experiment, and the Delaware colony and made pages on them. We continued reading Amos Fortune and did the Matthew bible study as well. SCIENCE We learnt about seeds and planted one. It was fun looking at the parts of seeds with our friends in co-op. This is the leaf classification page that Baby Sis did. This is another page Baby Sis did. Transpiration Experiment. Very slow since it's at home, it's dry and getting cold. Lil Sis learnt about water and the aquifer for Earth Science and made an edible aquifer. Yum. 9th GRADE Big Sis learnt about the South America. For chemistry she is learning about the polarity of water. This experiment requires thumb tacks. I used screws instead. Didn't know why after awhile we have the yellow flakes... PREPPER He LOVES numbers and kept asking about when we are going on vacation, so I let him write this calendar. OTHER HAPPENINGS Baby Sis' birthday celebration last week. Also it was my da...

2021-2022 Week 6

History We learnt about the New Netherlands (New York Colony) this week and Baby Sis drew a windmill. Lil Sis was going to make a model and I'm waiting for her to be done. For Earth Science, Lil Sis learnt about rocks and we got this set of rock collection for observation. It was a fun unit! We also started our very first co-op for Botany. I cannot believe I didn't take ANY picture. We are almost done with "Almost Home"! 9th Grade Big Sis had quite a bit of stuff this week! She learnt about Canada. I love her drawing of Anne of Green Gables. Because of the 50 cities book, she borrowed this one and it's as pretty! She love all the map exercises! And she made an AMAZING dinner of maple pulled pork with home-made buns and maple coleslaw! Chemistry: Some fun experiments this week: microwave wavelength wavelength of different chemicals: Salt (normal), Cupric Sulphate (the green one) and Strontium Chloride (red one) 11th Grade Big Bro did another practice SAT test th...
