MFW CtG/K Week 14: O-o Octopus, Exodus and ten commandments

4th/2nd Grade Creation to the Greeks

Ten Commandments:

I am the LORD your God...you shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an idol.
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy
Honor your father and your mother
You shall not murder
You shall not commit adultery
You shall not steal
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor

Bible/History
  • Discussed and memorized the 9th commandment
  • We read on the accounts of how God rescued the Israelites across the red sea and how He gave them the ten commandments

We also started the Advent Reading. This year we are following this materials and learning about the names of Jesus. It is very meaningful to me.

Math/Science

  • Soil and Rocks

We learnt about soil, what it is made up of and also rocks in soil

Language

  • Rod and Staff
  • Spelling Power for Big Bro
  • Spelling by Sight and Structure for Big Sis
And lookey!! Big Sis beginning to learn cursive. She is very interested in it and she is very diligent. I always begin to teach them cursive when I see that they have improved in their penmanship for manuscript (a sign that their fine motor skills are more developed)

For Big Sis

Foreign Language

We were on Lesson 5 on åº·è»’一上.

Art/Music

Big Sis had started to practice Minuet in G (the beginner form)

Primary Colors

Secondary colors

Have you wondered?
  • Why is Jesus "Prince of Peace" and not "King"? Because he is Son of God? Because "prince" is a highest order name?
  • Can you believe that God spoke to the people directly the ten commandments? And that Aaron SAW God? Yet they worshipped the calf????
Kindergarten:O-o Octopus

Lots of fun stuff for Octopus. Will put what we did up next week.

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!
