4th/2nd Grade Creation to the Greeks
Psalms 1
Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

Bible/History
- We read about David becoming King
- We continued on Children's Homer and the kids were getting a bit grossed out by the battle scenes. I rolled my eyes and said "Oh come on! You guys watched Star Wars which was way more gruesome!"
- The kids wrote summaries of Saul's life.
- And we talked about the Phoenicians, reminding them about the Greek word they learnt of "biblos" (from which "bible" derived from).
- Day 4 of Creation (Sun and Moon)
- We learnt about the phases of the Moon and also how the moon seems to be of different sizes but actually it is optical illusion.
- This experiment showed how the moon looks different when orbiting around the earth
This is such a fun comparison between my two children. The above was my son when he was in 2nd grade. He is a "do your work" guy. The sis is intent on having FUN with her work. She is not inattentive, but she is enjoying doing her work. =)

- Cursive for Big Sis. I get the worksheets here She finished lower case letters and Big Bro said he will teach her the upper case!
Another fun thing. This was Big Sis' assignment. Er...I laughed and said "oh yeah, you had SUCH a LONG way to school!" thinking she would skip this question.
But she wrote...

We started on Lesson 8 on 康軒一上.
And it so happens to be for Chinese New Year!! So appropriate!
We were going to skip this week's art, but I did talk to them about diptychs. And Big Sis made this on her own during quiet time. I am so proud of her.
Have you wondered?
- The kids were very impressed that David was able to write such a "good" lament for Saul at his death even though Saul was so unkind to him.
- Why was God so unfair to strike Uzzah down just because he was trying to steady the Ark? God never told them to put the art on the cart. The Philistines did that! We have to learn to follow instructions.

Lil Sis did this on her own
Lil Sis started to read MUCH better since this lesson! She was able to read the little stories from the Student Sheets. She was a proud little girl, wanting to show her daddy how well she did.
She also listened to a story on abcmouse on Penguins and was able to tell me the fun facts of penguins! Our books haven't arrived yet, so we'll read more in the coming week.
And we watched the Sesame Podcast on P (We always watch one for the unit and all our kids love them)
