MFW CtG/K Week 32: V-v Vegetable, Esther

4th/2nd Grade Creation to the Greeks

On some days, we relax like this. The gals who surely know how to enjoy life.

Bible/History
  • We read Esther, Big Bro's favorite book of the bible (yeah, beats me too).

Math/Science

I decided to let go of Archimedes. A little too much for our last weeks.Maybe we'll revisit this book the next around.
But we did learn a little about streamlined bodies and talked a little about our airplane trip again.

Language

  • Rod and Staff
  • Spelling Power for Big Bro
  • Spelling by Sight and Structure for Big Sis

Foreign Language

We started åº·è»’一下

The kids have forgotten many words!!! We did a lot of revision this week.

Art/Music

We drew the Greek columns and we saw the Greek columns!! When we went to the Manhattan Library on Sunday. The library was SOOO beautiful.

Have you ever wondered?
Why did Queen Esther invite the king TWO times for the banquet?

Where did the name "Marathon" come from? (Apparently this is common knowledge but not to me): All from this man who died carrying the message from the Battle of Marathon to Athens. (The kids asked "Did he deliver the message before he die????" haha...
Kindergarten:V-v Vegetable

We named the vegetables we know of.
We read these books. Sylvia's Spinach, Little Pea and Peter Rabbit (not in picture) are especially entertaining. I REALLY like Little Pea. So funny.

We have catalogs of seeds and they gave us great pictures for the vegetables!

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
