BIBLE
We revised the Roman Verses this week (Rom 3:23, 5:8, 8:28)
Instead of the Proverbs verses, Lil Sis memorized with her elder siblings.
HISTORY
First we learnt how strong the arch is. Without the arch, the bridge could take no more than 8 "soldiers".
With the arch...
The bridge took more than we could count...well, I had no more pennies.
The kids thought it being a REALLY cool "experiment".
NOW. To the LONG AWAITED arch experiment...
I gritted my teeth and bought ALL these pudding a month ago. We made some LOVELY desserts out of them. In the name of education...what's some coloring... (CRINGE)
So. Here's the prep. Remove the pudding, label them. (Make sure they get consumed before expiry date)
Cut the 4 flaps off from one side of the opening.
Slit open both the narrow sides of the box
Tape them down. Now you have a wedge. Repeat for 15 times and KEEP praying "I really hope this is worth my time!!!"
And guess what? It was!!! The kids thought it SOOO cool, they demonstrated this to their daddy and also grandparents. I kept the boxes ready to be used MANY years later (I am not sure I would want to buy the boxes of pudding again)
Afterward Lil Sis went to build this. =)
We also learnt how the names of the week come about. Again, the kids were very amused. We also talked about how Augustus Caesar was made god and how he fit into the whole Egyptian myths. Lastly, we talked briefly on the Roman Roads and we watched this video together.
We continued to read on Bronze Bow and the kids and I really like the book!
LANGUAGE
The older kids continued on Rod and Staff English.
Lil Sis continued on her long vowels. This week she also learnt the "th" sounds and "oo" sounds.
I found this really cute book at library and we read it together.
And we read this book with 2 sentences "Have you seen my cat? This is not my cat."
The older two had their test for Lesson 4 康軒一下 for Mandarin Chinese.
We learnt two more Latin words "Centum" and "aqua" this week.
We did Spelling Power.
These are Big Sis' recent favorite. Little Miss and Mr. Men. I remembered with much fondness when my Kindergarten teacher read these books to us.
MATH
Lil Sis continued to do worksheets on addition.
We read Animals on Board!
SCIENCE
We learnt about the Roman arch and aqueducts.
ART
We took some time drawing the arch this week. The kids really enjoyed it.
