MFW Exploration to 1850 WEEK 10: Georgia, Age of Enlightenment, stems

Bible

This week we revised Bible memory James Chapter 1. The older kids did Boy Have I got Problems for Chapter 2.

We sang "Alas Did my savior bleed?"

History

We learnt about Georgia, and the age of new ideas.

And we continued reading Madeleine Takes Command

We "listened" to The Courage of Sarah Noble from Big Sis' audiobook

Language

We continued to do Rod and Staff English, Spelling by Sound and Structure (Lil Sis) and Spelling Power (older kids)

Science

We learnt about stems this week.

We learnt about phototropism and saw many trees in our road trip that displayed this.

Art

We are using Artistic Pursuits K-3 (Book 2) this year.

We learnt about Mona Lisa and tried to do some "textured" painting using saranwraps. It was really fun!

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
