2021-2022: Week 3

HISTORY

This week we learnt about King James, John Smith, and Jamestown.

We came up with the banned words' list and the alternatives together. Then the girls wrote notebook pages on King James.
They also did google quizzes (I made them) for Story of the World.

We learnt about John Smith. We watched this video for Jamestown.

We also learnt about the French explorers and I asked the girls to read this book.

We did a Jamestown replica model. It was fun! I cut the pieces the night before though, for that took the longest time and work.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE
The girls started spelling as well as Chinese this week. I'm using materials from this site and made worksheets for them to learn the words
Once in a while we get a nice pictorial learning of Chinese words. =)

BIG SIS (9th Grade)

Big Sis did some fun experiments for Chemistry this week. (This one is on density) and she did her first test!

She also learnt more about Geography and some world religions.

Sometimes the littlest will join Big Sis for her work. (She is the BEST big sis)

She also started Chinese.

BIG BRO (11th Grade)
We went through some of his mistakes from his full SAT test prep last Sat. Also he started reading this book:

PREPPER
Wee Bro is SOOOO into alphabet.

He wrote this the other day. Yes, he's also into stop signs.

More painting at school

OTHER HAPPENINGS

We visited Japan Village in Brooklyn. It was fun!!

I reached a very important milestone in my Spanish learning! Big Sis got to her 500 day streak before me. She was learning Spanish and Chinese.

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
