We went back to regular school this year (instead of year-around, school a couple weeks, break a week like last year). In general, it was better received.
Tot School...3K...Preschool...
Wee Bro jumped a couple grades this year. Hahaha...At first it was just a for fun school, then he learnt the alphabet, numbers, and got really really geeky about them. So we kind of officially started some preschool work for him. Then after a bit, we realized he might have to begin kindergarten coming August. *GULP*.
We used unit study and it was real fun for me (hoipefully him too)
But this boy enjoyed a lot more worksheets than others, so we had some workbooks and worksheets. AND...the daily sheet. He loved that.
For the younger girls, we did Exploration to 1850. However, I added more of the Homeschooling in the Woods lapbook packs. I really like the materials. We used the IEW way of writing in some of the lapbook writing and it was great! We still listened to the whole of the Story of the World Vol 3, and I made google quizzes for most of the reading.
For Science, we did our first ever co-op with two other girls. We did Botany and Zoology. They enjoyed having friends to learn with.
Lil Sis also did Earth Science on her own (she used EasyPeasy Earth Science but I adapted quite a bit).
For Mandarin, we used Little Fox and went through most of this series. I made worksheets for every story and they learnt the words.
For Bible, we followed the Bible Study Fellowship study on Matthew.
Lil Sis did Chalkdust Pre-Algebra and Baby Sis continued with Singapore Math.
They both did Rod and Staff English and Spelling Power.
9th Grade
Big Sis worked very hard this year. She did these credits:
Bible 1 credit (Bible Study Fellowship, some Answers in Genesis, and readings from the OT)
English 1 credit (intertwined with GH World Geog)
World Geography 1 credit (Guesthollow)
Geometry 1 credit (EasyPeasy)
Chemistry 1 credit (Jay Wile)
Foreign Language 1 credit (Integrated Chinese)
Music 0.5 credit
The highlight of the year was World Geography. She had a lot of fun with it and we are both so pleased with the curriculum. She did a wonderful array of cooking projects and we are so blessed with her food.
The hardest she had to work for this year is Chemistry. Jay Wile's curriculum is rigorous, but she thinks it is very very well "taught" (written).
11th Grade
Big Bro worked hard for his SAT this year. Throughout the year he practiced on Khan, and did 11 practice tests. In the end he was rewarded with a good grade for the SAT test.
He also did these credits:
Bible 1 credit (Bible Study Fellowship)
English 1 credit (SAT prep, some with history)
American History 1 credit (Guesthollow)
Latin 1 credit (Wheelock Latin)
Algebra II 1 credit (Yaymath)
Government 0.5 credit (iCivics and Crash Course)
Physics 1 credit (World of Physics)
Music
