This week was extra fun because there was a few days' break (Labor Day). First, Daddy surprised us by treating us to One Vanderbilt Summit.
We live in an amazing city and often we take it for granted.
Then on Labor Day, we went to Old Westbury Gardens and it was a great time with the grandparents.
We started the Story Of the World spine for our year. For every lesson there is a map, outline, and review questions. I really like it. I made some review questions into google quizzes.
We studied the Sepoy Mutiny, Japan Reopens, and the Crimean War this week.
And the girls did a post test with flying colors. We just need to work on spelling.
Lil Sis joined a co-op (first time in our homeschooling life!) for her 8th grade Biology. I think she will have a blast.
Baby Sis read about the Gold Rush (she was ok with it) and did some fun activities.
Lava Lamp! (learning on density!) We did it without alka seltzer.
This one with salt, so fun!
Kindergarten S-s Sun!
We are going on to the tens! I love the idea (from the group) on the beads. I think it really help with the place value teaching.
He is memorizing this over 2 weeks.
Not crazy about finishing the rods for sun =)
The krototak project on sun is fun!
We come up with words that begin with S.
He watches/plays on abcmouse sometimes.
Shadow art was fun!
Teach Me app is one of our favs
I did not use the MFW worksheets this year. Instead I found these. She has different level and I really like them.
This was fun!
We talked about the globe and sun and it's always helpful in this teaching that grandma lives on the OTHER side of the globe.
abcya.com was fun too! We played it on the PC (he needs to learn to use the mouse) because it's free.
Other things
When your 4 year old asks for a BIG map so he can write in the states, guess what? You do it!
He made pretzels with me adn we did some counting. We cut the dough into two, and each piece into 3, and then doubled again. He counted them to be 12. Then we put 5 on a tray and 7 on another, and he found it fun to count them to 12 again. Math while making lunch? Homeschool rocks!
