2022-2023 Week 6-7

Week 6 hubby and I had a delayed anniversary getaway. All the older kids continued with their academic school on their own. Wee Bro took a week's break from Kindergarten.

They also did some "school" on taking care of Wee Bro, cleaning the house, making meals, and basically surviving on own together! My FIL was around to be the adult figure, but he was served very well too. =)

We were so proud of the kids for being so independent and helpful!

Week 7

We are back in school

We studied a bit more on civil war.

We used the IEW principles to edit the writing. This has been such a great help.

They wrote a phrase/sentence they find interesting in the Gettysburg Address

Love these lapbook components from the Homeschooling in the Woods
We also continued with state study and president study.

5th Grade Science

She learnt about atoms, molecules, orbitals, and all.

These were fun projects!

8th Grade Science

Lil Sis learnt about the Kingdom Monera these two weeks and it was quite a bit to study.

She did really well in the Virtual Homeschool Group class and has been acing the exams!

10th Grade

Big Sis continued to learn about the World History and she enjoys the worksheets very much. She is also working on her CLEP Bio, Algebra II, and Physics.

Kindergarten

We learnt about L-l Leaf! But because of Hurricane Ian, we had to wait to almost end of week to go pick leaves.

However, on our getaway, we visited a state park and found this really interesting booklet. I found the leaves in the park and took them back to show to the kids. I love this project so much.

For the Daily Book, he learnt to write October

We practiced the memory verse many times this week.

L- for Lollipop!

When we read "We're going on a leaf hunt" I found the Red Oak page from the project I got from the State Park. It was so cool.

Caps on Sale Lapbook!

We finally went on our leaf hunt after the wet days.

This is the leaf that "left the tree".

We read many interesting books on Leaf!

Love the phonetic spelling of the four year old!!

I found our file folder games and it was really fun to let him play with them. He played with the subway one I did for Big Bro!

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
