1st Grade, Rome to Reformation Week 25: Black Death, Renaissance, Joan of Arc, NT story for MFW 1st

BIBLE We celebrated 100th Day this week!! So fun! We memorized Philippians 2:5-8  We finished reading the gospel of Luke and the life of Jesus. For Lil Sis, we read about birth of Jesus, Jesus as a boy, Jesus being baptized, and the fishermen story Lil Sis is reading the Reader really well, but needs some prompting for some more difficult words. HISTORY We learnt about the Black Death, Renaissance, Henry V, and Joan of Arc. We finished Dangerous Journey. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! LANGUAGE The older kids continued on Rod and Staff English. Lil Sis worked on her bible story reading  and bible notebook.  The older two did a test on  Lesson 8  康軒一下  for Mandarin Chinese and Lil Sis did practice on bopomofo We learnt two more Latin words "arbor" and "tempus" this week.  We did a revision worksheet. Preschool 2015/2016: Chinese New Year Unit

February is Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year) Month!! This is our unit for the preschooler (she is 3) It is so exciting because I LOVE CNY! We read these We were so blessed to have a friend who is a teacher at a Mandarin Preschool and she invited us to their CNY party. It kicked off our month so well! These are the goodies we got from the party Lil Sis and Baby Sis did this craft at the party. This is the year of the monkey. We also tasted some fun foods, like 發糕(a kind of steamed cake, signifying prosperity), 蘿蔔糕 (turnip cake, signifying, good fortune, 好彩頭), oranges (signifying blessedness, 吉祥) and apples(signifying peace, 平安). Many foods in Chinese New Year have special meanings due to their sounds. These are the other foods we had this month 包子 Buns - 包銀 金瓜 Pumpkin (Golden Gourd) with Brocc and chicken - gold, prosperity We talked about heaven having streets of gold.
