1st Grade, Rome to Reformation Week 22: China, Sun, Elijah and Elisha

BIBLE

We memorized Philippians 2:3-4

We continued to read on Luke and the life of Jesus.

For Lil Sis, we read about Elijah and Elisha

HISTORY

We learnt about China to Han Dynasty
And we looked on our timeline of what is happening at that time

Chinese New Year is coming and it fit our lessons! We made decorations. Baby Sis will have a whole month to learnt about Chinese New Year.

LANGUAGE
The older kids continued on Rod and Staff English.

Lil Sis worked on her phonics, bible books and bible notebook

The older two went on to Lesson 8 åº·è»’一下 for Mandarin Chinese and Lil Sis did practice on bopomofo

We learnt two more Latin words "sol" and "vulcanus" this week.
We did Spelling Power.

MATH
We continued to practice Math.

SCIENCE
We learnt about the sun and the kids had a lot of fun.

We did the experiment to show why sunset is orange. It worked better with a smaller cup and my iphone flash light.

I decided to ask the older ones to do a summary of what they learnt and they enjoyed doing it on powerpoint.

Lil Sis did this worksheet instead.

And we got information from here.

ART
We used Draw and Write Through History to draw the Great Wall of China. It took A LOT of work but the result was enjoyable.

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
