2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 10

We had another week of break.

Many things happened in that week.

We did a small hike at Rockefeller State Park Preserve (very nice small place)

There is a budding photographer in our family. Taking artistic shots. =)

And then after many many failures, the determined child won. She is my fourth success in learning to ride without training wheels. It was quite a day. We rejoiced and celebrated with her.

Last Saturday we watched Sight and Sound Theater's "Queen Esther". Very proud of this quality production.

Also, during the break week, we (either hubby or I) had the chance to bring the kids out for dates (outdoor dining for us). We haven't done that for a while and it was good to spend some time with them individually.

As part of the career exploration for Big Bro, I asked him to do a personality test. I did it myself too. This is similar to Myers-Briggs Inventory. Two things are very fascinating to me. One, my type changed. From INTJ to ISFJ. Did motherhood change me? =) More feeling now? and my hubby, who was ESFJ, now is ISFJ. Same type as me! Maybe 17 years of marriage can really rub off someone?
Second, my boy is an ENTP. Polar from me. Hmm...does that explain all the frustrations we sometimes feel from one another? =D

Bible History
This week we are back to school! For Bible/History, we are reading about the early disciples through Acts. And we memorized Romans 12:3

And we continue to read "Twice Freed".

Science
We are learning about the skeletal structure. So fun! We are finally making the Body Book models! =)

We learnt from the FB group, to use brads for the joints. That's fun!

We also write in the names of some of the major bones.

8th Grade
Big Sis is learning about mitosis this week and we looked at some slides.

Onion Root Tip, 250X

Ascaris Mitosis, 250 X

She had a test for Foreign Language and it tickles me to see this girl who continues to doodle in her work and tests. =)

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
