2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 28

This week was packed up with fun! I really enjoyed it.

For Bible, we continued to listen to the sermon series of 1 John, mostly by Pr. David Platt, and also doing the bible study that goes with it (I made modifications to fit my children).

Big Sis surprised me by memorizing 1 John 1-2:6!! It was such an amazingly sweet gesture and it really really encouraged my mama heart.

I used some inductive study methods as we go along. Not full-blown.

For History, we were studying the Pre-Columbian American cultures.

We continued to draw the journeys of Vespucci and Magellan.

Hot chocolate while talking about the Mayans.

We did a Mayan Numeral lapbook component. I left some blank and the girls had to figure out by patterns.

We made chocolates while learning about the Aztecs! So fun! It has ghee...

powder sugar, milk powder

and cocoa powder.

Very very grainy texture which the girls did not fancy, so Lil sis put it in hot milk. =) But it was great fun!

And we made a lapbook component on llamas, alpacas, and vicunas while learning about the Incas.

We also learnt about the Andes Mountain Range.

and lastly we made quipus. It was soooo fun. The girls had to figure out their quipus, and then present to us.

Baby Sis made about her favorite Avenger characters.

Big sis made one of her life!! So cool! Her baby years, toddler years, childhood years, and her present (one big knot)

Lil sis made one for the number of alphabet in each child's name.

We watched quite a few videos and our favorite is this one. Done so well!

And we finished Dangerous Journey.

Lil Sis also joined a free large group class on Varsity Tutors It was on kawaii drawings and manga. She had a lot of fun.

For Science, we learnt about Jupiter.

I find it really educational to look at NASA's page while learning about Astronomy!

And Big Sis finished her test for Kingdom Protista and she got 100%. She never ceases to amaze me.

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
