2021-2022 Week 7

This was the windmill Lil Sis didn't finish last week for New Netherlands.

I started a new notebook page for the girls. To put in the kings in charge during the time of each colony.

They continued to do their colony pages.

This is how I teach the history. Sometimes I read straight out of the books. Most of the time I summarize and I will use a powerpoint presentation with pictures for them. It makes more sense.

We learnt about King Charles I, Oliver Cromwell, Charles II, and the fire in London this week.
Also we learnt about the Carolinas and Maryland colonies.

Science
We had our 2nd co-op.

These were the notebook pages Baby Sis did for last week.
When we went for a walk, we found a vascular plant.

And Lil Sis made a crystal model for her Earth Science class (that she is independently doing)

Bible

For bible, I am using the materials from Bible Study Fellowship. Big Bro uses the adult, Big Sis and Lil Sis use the oldest kid and Baby Sis the younger kid. They are pretty good materials I think.

9th Grade
Big Sis had some tests this week and she started to learn about the Middle America.

She made Smoky Taco Chicken! =) The lime juice infused sour cream was really good!

11th Grade

New books for this week. Thankful for the libraries. He actually liked the Rebels books!
They stayed up late to watch Hamilton. Again. So good. SO SO good.
Somebody did really well for his test this week!
This is how I help him with SAT. He took the full test, I went through the questions (Math) and picked out some of his mistakes and went through SOME with him (by topic). If I go through everything, it will be too much. But by focusing on some, at least he got some.
He is still using Khan for his daily practice, and maybe a full test every month or so.

OTHER HAPPENINGS

We celebrated Mid Autumn Festival with the smallest mooncake. =)
Big Bro had his first gig at a coffee shop with his youth director. I cannot tell you how proud and joyous I feel to see him using his gifts and passions.

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
