2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 30

 This week we learnt about the Reformers. We did some lapbook components on them. I dug out my Institute of Excellence in Writing (Andrew Pudewa) lessons that I got a few years ago and decided I'm going to start teaching writing in a different manner!! Now I'm listening to the lessons DVD by DVD (I'm almost half way). For John Wycliff, I let Baby Sis paste the info about him on the lapbook. For Lil Sis I worked with her using keywords. For John Huss, we read the passage together and wrote the keywords together. If you know IEW, you can see the keywords. Then they have to retell me the sentences they wrote from the keywords. They then wrote the piece out on their own. For Martin Luther, I asked them to do the keywords on their own. This was Baby Sis' Then they retold the story to me and I typed them out. After that I asked them to do one dress up each. Lil Sis did a "who-which" and Baby Sis did a "ly" word.  We did the same for William Tyndale. I als

2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 29

 This week we assembled our Middle Ages Lapbook! It's so fun to see all that we have learnt for the past weeks. Many of the components are from Project Passport , but some are our own. I think the girls did a FANTASTIC job!! We then talked about the colonization of the Americas We did a few lapbook components while talking about the Renaissance and the new world. So thankful for people who put up these free resources. For Science we learnt about Saturn and did a lapbook component for it. I love the artwork the did for Saturn! For Lil Sis, I have changed her Math from Math Mammoth to the Chalkdust Math (PreAlgebra). I think Math Mammoth is quite tedious. 8th Grade Big Sis is going through the kingdoms in Apologia. She is learning about the Kingdom Fungi now. And she got another 100% on her Algebra test. She is a really really bright student, but I think there is a lot to say about her diligence and hard work as well! So proud of her. On that note, the two other girls also got As fo
