10th Grade 2020-2021 Week 5

This week Big Bro started to read Church History in Plain Language. Because it's a borrowed e-book, I am not sure if he will continue to read it. I might try to find some materials regarding church history for him (I think it's quite important to know about it). He did a Chemistry experiment on measuring mole. He also did an exam (Chapters 1-4) for Chemistry and did relatively well. He also watched another movie (Signs) for Intro to Film. He did two tests for History these weeks and did well. I like that Notgrass History books has review for every chapter and tests for every unit. Other than that, he continued to do Geometry, Bible (with Notgrass), Personal Finance, Foreign Language, and research for his writing. Seems like for now he will be writing about John Mayer, one of his favorite guitar-players/songwriter/singer.

2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 6

Last week was our break week. And here are some things we did. We painted. These are some of the ones done by Lil Sis and Big Sis. The kids completed their powerpoint course by daddy. We went on a car ride into the city and marveled at the fact that we are able to see the World Trade Center just a ride away. This is breakfast made by Lil Sis. Yogurt, banana, berries, and sprinkles. Always fancy. And...it's back to school! =) The kids joked that we are having lots of "last day of school" and "first day of school" this year. The  breakfast  to start our new week. Risen in the fridge, baked first thing in the morning. Bible We revised the Roman verses this week. History We learnt about the Roman architecture. This was an "aqueduct" hubby built some weeks back to channel the water from the AC to the side of the building. It was great to see the working of an "aqueduct". We did a lapbook component on the architecture of Rome. The older two did res

Pandemic Schooling

Because of the pandemic, everyone has had a taste of having their children school at home. I hesitate, as many other homeschoolers do, to call this "homeschooling" because homeschooling is more than doing school at home. It is an entire mindset of how we prioritize our lives and our families around educating our children academically, socially, spiritually, physically, and emotionally. However, every parent is thrown into this schooling at home business, whether they chose it or not. Some would be doing this form of schooling for a while until school can safely open for the children to return. Others have made the choice to take the plunge. =) If you're seriously thinking of taking the plunge, I would encourage you to read up on some basic things to think about before you homeschool, and to familiarize yourself with your state laws so that you can make an informed choice. This site is so helpful with it! History Education and Literature These little booklets for on Roman literature are cute! We did an ad on the newspaper. Look at the one Baby Sis did. =) It was supposed to be "Ovid". Another newpaper article on the Julian Calendar A fun way to learn the Roman numerals Fun "brochure" of the Bath. Science Eye We did the Body Book Model of the eye. It was fun to do it again. The Body Models that we did the last time were all here We learnt about the ears and sound waves We did a ear accordian book from this book  (by the way, we got this when it was free. I probably won't pay $7 for this) and also a fun test online. We have enjoyed some of the vides from this channel . We watched some fun ones for ears. Like, why do we get dizzy, or what are earwax for?  Art We learn
