MFW CtG/K Week 33: Q-q Quail, Nehemiah

4th/2nd Grade Creation to the Greeks Bible/History We read Nehemiah and were very impacted by the fact that Nehemiah had to work hard to rebuild the walls AS WELL as guard against the enemies at the same time! We also learnt about the Olympics and watched many videos on the past Olympic games. We read on the City of Athens and how the Greek lived. Math/Science We have stopped doing Science in the Beginning and will do some of the experiments for Day 6 (the human body ones) for next year. Since we came back from Singapore and the kids did their Math and English work in the morning (jet lag), they have been loving that idea, so when they woke at 6am, they would do their own Math and English work. I still have to look through them and maybe go through some corrections with them in the afternoon, but it sure made our school time MUCH shorter! I was very impressed with their determination and initiative. Language Rod and Staff  Spelling Power for Big Bro ...

MFW CtG/K Week 31: X-x Fox, Daniel

4th/2nd Grade Creation to the Greeks We came home from our two week's vacation to the other side of the earth. We entered into a week-long recuperation and the re-tuning of our circadian clocks. In laymen's terms, we fought jet lag. Though the first few days were dreadful, we fought it rather bravely. God was so gracious to us in giving us a better weather (compared to when we left) and mommy brought everyone out almost everyday. It is fun to go to a playground that was "OURS" since we were the only inhabitants there. =) Bible/History We read about Nebuchadnezzar's pride, the writing on the wall, the lions' den and the fall of the Babylonians to the Persians We also learnt how God used Cyrus as an instrument for the Jews to return to Israel even though he did not know God. We read some Aesop's Fables along with the K week of "fox" We found the fun lapbook pages  here . Math/Science We read the Arc...

MFW CtG/K Week 30: F-f Frog, Judah-Daniel

4th/2nd Grade Creation to the Greeks Isaiah 40:21-26 Do you not know? Do you not hear?      Has it not been told you from the beginning?      Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? 22  It is he who sits above the circle of the earth,      and its inhabitants are  like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,      and spreads them like a tent to dwell in; 23  who brings princes to nothing,      and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness. 24  Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown,      scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth, when he blows on them, and they wither,      and the tempest carries them off like stubble. 25  To whom then will you compare me,      that I should be like him? says the Holy One. 26  Lift up your e...
