MFW CtG/K Week 33: Q-q Quail, Nehemiah

4th/2nd Grade Creation to the Greeks

Bible/History

  • We read Nehemiah and were very impacted by the fact that Nehemiah had to work hard to rebuild the walls AS WELL as guard against the enemies at the same time!
  • We also learnt about the Olympics and watched many videos on the past Olympic games.
  • We read on the City of Athens and how the Greek lived.

Math/Science

We have stopped doing Science in the Beginning and will do some of the experiments for Day 6 (the human body ones) for next year.

Since we came back from Singapore and the kids did their Math and English work in the morning (jet lag), they have been loving that idea, so when they woke at 6am, they would do their own Math and English work. I still have to look through them and maybe go through some corrections with them in the afternoon, but it sure made our school time MUCH shorter! I was very impressed with their determination and initiative.

Kindergarten:Q-q Quail

We read the Biggest House in the World
and we had some interesting conversations about contentment when the kids were wishing they have a bigger house with a room for everyone. (The four kids now sleep in the same room)

We talked about being content and not grumble. Yertle the Turtle would have been a great book in the topic, but we already read it some time back.

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
