MFW CtG/K Week 16: O-o Octopus, After Tabernacle to Moses' death

4th/2nd Grade Creation to the Greeks

Psalms 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside still waters.

Bible/History
  • Read many times Psalms 23, dictated verses 1-2
  • We talked about Moses' lack of faith in God, thus leading to him not being able to enter the promiseland, his death and also the rise of Joshua.
  • We also learnt about the immigration of the first North/South Americans

We finished with the Advent Reading. This year we are following this materials and learning about the names of Jesus. And we celebrated Christmas, the birth of our Lord Jesus!

Math/Science

  • We skipped this week's Science because the concept of "equilibrium" is a little too difficult to my kids (I presumed)

Language

  • Rod and Staff
  • Spelling Power for Big Bro
  • Spelling by Sight and Structure for Big Sis
  • Cursive for Big Sis. I get the worksheets here
I am so happy to have found this book. I LOVE THE BOOK!!!!! It always almost bring tears to me!!

Foreign Language

We finished Lesson 5 on 康軒一上. And we did some revision and tests

Art/Music

An experiment to see the difference if we do not use "complimentary colors" (more flat)

Learnt about complementary colors

Shading with colors (the kids didn't see much difference)

Have you wondered?
Moses could not enter the promiseland...not because he did not OBEY God's command (he did not) but God says it is because he did not have faith in God!

Kindergarten:W-w water

Frozen snowflakes! =) Can you see Olaf?

Blending ladder is getting better!!

Book we read! We LOVE them!

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor
You shall not covet your neighbor's house...or anything that is your neighbor's

I am the LORD your God...you shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an idol.
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy
Honor your father and your mother
You shall not murder
You shall not commit adultery
You shall not steal
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor

Bible/History
  • Discussed and memorized the 9th commandment

And lookey!! Big Sis beginning to learn cursive. She is very interested in it and she is very diligent. I always begin to teach them cursive when I see that they have improved in their penmanship for manuscript (a sign that their fine motor skills are more developed)

For Big Sis

Foreign Language

We were on Lesson 5 on 康軒一上.

Art/Music

Big Sis had started to practice Minuet in G (the beginner form)

Primary Colors

Secondary colors

Have you wondered?
  • Why is Jesus "Prince of Peace" and not "King"? Because he is Son of God? Because "prince" is a highest order name?
  • Can you believe that God spoke to the people directly the ten commandments? And that Aaron SAW God? Yet they worshipped the calf????
Kindergarten:O-o Octopus

Lots of fun stuff for Octopus. Will put what we did up next week.
