2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 24

 This week we learnt about the black death and the beginning of the French and Britain nationalism. We played the simulation of the black death and it was quite interesting! Look at the actual simulation that we learnt from here  We used cards instead of colored blocks. And we made the black death lapbook component from Project Passport: Middle Ages . I think she makes the BEST and most creative lapbook components! We also talked about the hundred years war and Joan of Arc. For Science, we learnt about the earth and how perfect it is for us. I spent a LONG time figuring out how to make this lapbook component and I'm very proud of myself! We made this layers of the earth pop-up card as a lapbook component. We did more foreign language and read The Cricket of Times Square I make worksheets like these to go with Duolingo (Mandarin) for the younger girls. I'm letting Big Sis take a break from Master Books because I feel that they don't go in depth enough of learning the kingdo...

2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 20

  Bible/History We started to memorize the Philippians verses. And we learnt about Saladin, El Cid, and the Magna Carta We did this page for the lapbook And we made arrows for Robin Hood. Science We are on to Astronomy!! =) This is introduction week. We are going to do a lapbook for this unit. The differences between planets, stars, and meteors. As usual the girls LOVE the mnemonic of the planets. The astronomers lapbook component. I'm rather proud of this page that I made, with help from here . There are other astronomy worksheets from the site that are good, especially for younger kids. This year's unit I used many good resources from the NASA page . This is one of them. 2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 16/17

 We had two weeks break. First we went to Maine for a really nice relaxing family vacation. Then we took another week off. This week, we are back! =) Bible We continue to memorize 1 Cor 13:1-8. We also did the readings on Luke. History This week we learnt about monasteries, the vikings, and life in medieval towns. I added in Project Passport: The Middle Ages (Stop #4,6,8, 16, 20, and 21). The illumination pages are really fun to do! We wrote newspaper articles and advertisements. We did lapbook components We learnt about the town and the feudal system. We also learnt to play Nine Men Morris. We started reading "The Princess and the Goblin" by George MacDonald. It is quite interesting! Science We finished up the lungs model and learnt about immunity as well as a little on genes. Every week we still take a walk around our neighborhood and we spot differences in the surroundings. We also read Book 2 of "God's Design for Sex"  After that we had a lot of teaching an...
