2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 24

This week we learnt about the black death and the beginning of the French and Britain nationalism.

We played the simulation of the black death and it was quite interesting! Look at the actual simulation that we learnt from here We used cards instead of colored blocks.

And we made the black death lapbook component from Project Passport: Middle Ages. I think she makes the BEST and most creative lapbook components!

We also talked about the hundred years war and Joan of Arc.

For Science, we learnt about the earth and how perfect it is for us.
I spent a LONG time figuring out how to make this lapbook component and I'm very proud of myself!

We made this layers of the earth pop-up card as a lapbook component.

We did more foreign language and read The Cricket of Times Square

I make worksheets like these to go with Duolingo (Mandarin) for the younger girls.

I'm letting Big Sis take a break from Master Books because I feel that they don't go in depth enough of learning the kingdoms of Biology. She will be going through Apologia's 5 kingdoms in the coming weeks. I made worksheets to help her review the lesson.

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
