2021-2022 Year End Recap

We went back to regular school this year (instead of year-around, school a couple weeks, break a week like last year). In general, it was better received. Tot School...3K...Preschool... Wee Bro jumped a couple grades this year. Hahaha...At first it was just a for fun school, then he learnt the alphabet, numbers, and got really really geeky about them. So we kind of officially started some preschool work for him. Then after a bit, we realized he might have to begin kindergarten coming August. *GULP*. We used unit study and it was real fun for me (hoipefully him too) But this boy enjoyed a lot more worksheets than others, so we had some workbooks and worksheets. AND...the daily sheet. He loved that. 4th Grade and 7th Grade For the younger girls, we did Exploration to 1850. However, I added more of the Homeschooling in the Woods lapbook packs. I really like the materials. We used the IEW way of writing in some of the lapbook writing and it was great! We still listened to the whole of the...

The spine this year will be: Story of the World vol 3 Exploring American History And Building a City on the Hill Some other books for read-a-loud or materials will be However, we will not follow the state report, James study, art, and music. Bible We will attempt to follow bible study from Bible Study Fellowship I don't know how it will work but I think it might be helpful. Science We will do Botany and Zoology, using the materials suggested, possibly with two other new homeschoolers as a mini co-op. =) Lil Sis will also do some other science as part of her 7th grade science. However, instead of General Science, or Science in the Atomic Age (Wile), she will listen in to Botany/Zoology (without doing the assignments/projects), while adding Earth...

Rome to Reformation Year Plan 2020-2021

This school year is special. First, we ventured into different curriculum, while keeping My Father's World as the spine. Also, more importantly, it is the first year we are doing some kind of spontaneous schooling. Well, as spontaneous as this crazy control-freakish mom can take. Because of COVID and the quarantine, we figured we might as well start school, then take breaks when we can. We took May off, and here we are, June 1st. And we embarked on our journey to Ancient Rome. The last time we did RtR, I had a 1st, 3rd, 5th graders, and a little tag-along. This year we have a 3rd, 6th, 8th grader. And we have another littler tag-along. =) Here is the plan this year. HISTORY/BIBLE MFW is still our spine even though we are using some new materials. This is one BIG new change. I REALLY like this curriculum when I looked at it. Because I'm having all girls this year, and they all love cutting, pasting, coloring, I think this curriculum will be a great hit. We will still add in so...
