1st Grade, Rome to Reformation Week 29: South American Tribes, Jupiter, last supper, the cross, resurrection and ascension

BIBLE We memorized Philippians 2:5-11 and did some review of verses  We continued reading the book of 1 John. For Lil Sis, we read about the last supper, the cross, resurrection and ascension This isn't the first time we coincide so beautifully with the passion week. This week we prepare for Good Friday and Easter and Lil Sis was reading all about it! We were also reading about Leonardo Da Vinci, so this is a great time do the "Last Supper" craft . And we made the resurrection cookies. Last time we made these was three years back! These are the ingredients and this time all took turns to read (besides Baby Sis of course) The last step was the "seal" the tomb. The kids said "But we could take off the tape!" So I told them "Just as we think as if the tape could stop us from opening the oven, as if the stone can stop Jesus from resurrecting!!" The tomb is empty!! HISTORY We

1st Grade, Rome to Reformation Week 28: India/Columbus, Space rocks, Lost coin/son, Blind man, and Zacchaeus

BIBLE We memorized Philippians 2:5-11 and did some review of verses  We started reading the book of 1 John. For Lil Sis, we read about Lost coin/son, Blind man, and Zacchaeus It was interesting because I lost my keys this week and after a LONG search, I found the keys and I had to talk to Lil Sis about the story she read. HISTORY We learnt about India and Columbus. We did the map of Columbus' journey and watched a fun video of it. LANGUAGE The older kids continued on Rod and Staff English. Lil Sis worked on her bible story reading  and bible notebook.  The older two did a review for  康軒一下  for Mandarin Chinese and Lil Sis did practice on bopomofo We learnt two more Latin words "cursum" and "verto" this week.  MATH We continued to practice Math.  SCIENCE We learnt about the space rocks and it really was quite fascinating. 1st Grade, Rome to Reformation Week 27: Africa, Mars, Storm, Bread and Fish, Good Samaritan

BIBLE We memorized Philippians 2:511  We finished reading on the book of Philippians For Lil Sis, we read about Storm, Dead girl and sick woman, Bread and Fish, and the Good Samaritan Some days it was harder for Lil Sis to do the notebook, so I didn't push her. I would ask her to do at least 2 a week though. HISTORY We learnt about Africa, the dark continent LANGUAGE The older kids continued on Rod and Staff English. Lil Sis worked on her bible story reading  and bible notebook.  The older two did a review for  康軒一下  for Mandarin Chinese and Lil Sis did practice on bopomofo We learnt two more Latin words "artis" and "vivo" this week.  We did a revision worksheet. MATH We continued to practice Math. Big Bro had difficulty with Singapore Math 5A, so instead of going on, we did the practice in the textbook all over again. SCIENCE We learnt about Mars this week and it was really fun.

1st Grade, Rome to Reformation Week 26: Ottoman, Spain, Man on Mat, apostles, farmer

BIBLE We memorized Philippians 2:5-9 We started reading Philippians For Lil Sis, we read about man on the mat, apostles, farmer and the seeds. HISTORY We learnt about the Ottoman Turks, Ferdinand and Isabella, and Henry the Navigator Since there are no more read alouds for the year, I started reading " Still More Stories from Grandma's Attic " to the kids. They really like the books. I got the book for free on Amazon Kindle. LANGUAGE The older kids continued on Rod and Staff English. Lil Sis worked on her bible story reading  and bible notebook.  The older two did revisions on Lesson 5-8  康軒一下  for Mandarin Chinese and Lil Sis did practice on bopomofo We learnt two more Latin words "luna" and "inter" this week.  I found an interesting game for Lil Sis to practice her sight words. I typed in the words instead of using the Dolch List. The older kids continued to read books of intere
