MFW CtG/K Week 30: F-f Frog, Judah-Daniel

4th/2nd Grade Creation to the Greeks

Isaiah 40:21-26

Do you not know? Do you not hear?
Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22 It is he who sits above the circle of the earth,
    and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers;
who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
    and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;
23 who brings princes to nothing,
and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness.
24 Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown,
scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth,
when he blows on them, and they wither,
and the tempest carries them off like stubble.
25 To whom then will you compare me,
that I should be like him? says the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes on high and see:
    who created these?
He who brings out their host by number,
    calling them all by name,
by the greatness of his might,
and because he is strong in power
    not one is missing.

Bible/History

  • We read about Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar's dream and the fiery furnace
  • The kids used fighter verse app and they finished Is 40:21-25
  • We also learnt more about the Greeks and Sparta
  • We started on Aesop's Fables

The statue in Nebuchadnezzar's dream
Greek Coins (kids not impressed)

We did the Lion and The Mouse this week and also the Quack Frog (to coincide with K)

We found the fun lapbook pages here.

Math/Science

  • We did some fun experiments to learn about the lift and thrust in flight. Since we're going on a airplane very very soon, this concept came in real timely!
  • It was very cool for the kids to see that when you blow between two balloons, they come together instead of away! All to do with air pressure!

This one shows how when you blow away the air on top of the paper, the air pressure below the paper lifts it up. Very cool too!
  • Big Bro did his test for 4A and he didn't do as well. We realized he was very careless in his calculations, so we'll be doing more practice on that before going to 4B

Language

  • Rod and Staff
  • Spelling Power for Big Bro (Big Bro finished Level H and is going to Level I next)
  • Spelling by Sight and Structure for Big Sis

Foreign Language

We started 康軒一下!!We finished Lesson 1, did some revision and did the test.

Art/Music

Learning about the Greek vases

Have you ever wondered?
How far does a frog jump? (30 times its size)
How long is a frog's tongue? (1/3 its body length)

Kindergarten:F-g Frog

We tried to use different ways to use 5 rods to complete F

Life cycle of a frog

Girl is reading well, but needs to sound out the words

This is a REALLY fun pop up to make!!

We love the books!! Especially Frog and Toad, of course. We watched almost all the Frog and Toad Claymation videos we can find. They are SOOO good!

Lil Sis decided to make this on her own.

Big Sis was SOOO hilarious. She made this worksheet for Lil Sis. =)

And we made these fun frog sandwich (avocado, bacon, cheese). They look REAL cute, but funny how the LOOK of food does affect its taste. We still can't get over they look like frogs and may taste like them! =)

And after this, we are going on a HOLIDAY!!!!
Can you feel our excitement??!?! 2 1/2 weeks in Singapore. It is going to be SO. MUCH. FUN!!!! Can't wait at all.

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!
