Bible This week we revised Bible memory James 1 And we memorized James 2:1-4 History Because of Columbus Day and a short road trip, we had a short school week.  We learnt about Peter the Great and the Ottoman Turks Instead of Turkish Delight, I did a Middle Eastern kind of dinner instead. I made flat bread , wrapped with chicken kebabs (but baked, not skewered), hummus, and cucumber. This is the Trim Healthy Mama Version for the adults. (With Coconut flour wraps ) And we continued reading Madeleine Takes Command We finished reading The Courage of Sarah Noble. Language Lil Sis had her first English test. Science We learnt about trees this week. And we saw many many beautiful ones when we hiked in the state park. We looked at terminal buds and scars. ' We saw phototropism in action. Art We are using Artistic Pursuits K-3 (Book 2) this year. We did not do art this week. ...

Bible This week we revised Bible memory James Chapter 1. The older kids did Boy Have I got Problems for Chapter 2. We sang "Alas Did my savior bleed?" History  We learnt about Georgia, and the age of new ideas. And we continued reading Madeleine Takes Command We "listened" to The Courage of Sarah Noble from Big Sis'  audiobook Language We continued to do Rod and Staff English, Spelling by Sound and Structure (Lil Sis) and Spelling Power (older kids) Science We learnt about stems this week. We learnt about phototropism and saw many trees in our road trip that displayed this. Art We are using Artistic Pursuits K-3 (Book 2) this year. Bible This week we revised Bible memory James 1:1-11. And we memorized James 1:12-27 We sang "Alas Did my savior bleed" History  We learnt about the wars against the colonies, William Penn, and Pennsylvania. We finished reading Amos Fortune. And we went on to Madeleine Takes Command We also started reading The Courage of Sarah Noble. We have really enjoyed this book, especially Big Sis. Last year, she made her own audiobook ! =) It was well made I think. There are some mistakes in reading, which she corrected. Overall, I think she did a really amazing job as a then-seven-year-old. Language It is fun to see them writing long paragraphs in Mandarin by dictation. Science We learnt about roots this week. Art We are using Artistic Pursuits K-3 (Book 2) this year. Bible This week we revised Bible memory James 1:1-11. And we memorized James 1:12-22 We learnt "Now Thank We All Our God". Big Sis played for us. History  We learnt about Louis XIV (Sun King) and King of Prussia. We wrote about Virginia. We continued reading Amos Fortune. Language We continued with Spelling. Lil Sis is really getting a hang of Spelling. It was cool to see. We continued with Mandarin Chinese. Lil Sis is reading so much better now! Science We learnt about fruits and seed dispersal. Seed dispersal was SOOOO much fun!! We watched these two videos and the kids LOVED them. Art We are using Artistic Pursuits K-3 (Book 2) this year. We learnt blending with pastels this week. Bible This week we revised Bible memory James 1:1-11. And we memorized James 1:12-18 After a while we were kind of forgetting 1:1-11, we revised it by listening to youversion's audio. The reader is really good! We use these to help us. We learnt "Now Thank We All Our God". History  We learnt about King Charles I, Oliver Cromwell, King Charles II, and Lord Baltimore (and Maryland) This book gives really funny tidbits We continued reading Amos Fortune. Language We continued with Spelling. Lil Sis is really getting a hang of Spelling. It was cool to see. We continued with Mandarin Chinese. And that's how we do Spelling for three levels. I'll read a word to every one. Then correct, then read again. MULTI-TASK at its best! Science Our flower that we preserved two weeks ago. This is pretty cool!!
