MFW CtG/K Week 19: G-g Goat, Ruth, Samuel

4th/2nd Grade Creation to the Greeks

Psalms 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,[c]
    I will fear no evil,

Bible/History
  • We talked about Ruth and Samuel's story
  • The kids memorized the whole Ps 23 on their own.
  • It was heartwarming to see the examples of Ruth and Samuel
  • We also learnt about Crete, Minoans and Mycenaean. (Many words I had to google on the pronunciation!)
  • We did quite some reading from Streams and also Ancient World. Would love to show them a video/documentary...maybe next week.

Math/Science
  • Because of our failed attempt at growing seeds, Science was kind of stopped this week.
  • But Big Sis finished Math 2A and did her test. She is really good!

Language
  • Rod and Staff 
  • Spelling Power for Big Bro
  • Spelling by Sight and Structure for Big Sis
  • Cursive for Big Sis. I get the worksheets here


Foreign Language

We finished Lesson 6 on åº·è»’一上. I did revision with them and they did the test. First time Big Bro got 100% and he was so happy


Art/Music

We totally played hooky on Art and Music this week, but Big Bro and I read on Fra Angelico a little.

Kindergarten:G-g Goat

I went through the CEF "Wordless book" with Lil Sis. They heard the gospel from us many times but it is good to remind them "Jesus died for our sins"

I found that Lil Sis is not like her siblings. Her learning to read is taking a MUCH longer time than others. So I made a little book with her to practice and we kept practicing and practicing. I will have to think of more ways to practice with her (without blowing my top. PATIENCE is the key!!)

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet. MFW Kindergarten S-Sun Unit 2012

  Tactile "s" (we didn't get Laurie, we got the $1 from Staples. ;P)   Sun Dot-to-dot   Arranging the cards and singing A-a-apple song   Handwriting     A collaborative project: The Sun Plate   Finished project (it is good to have ONE project in the house)   Big brother wanted to do his own version   Yup! Back to the cutting and pasting   I really like the new Math pages   She was quite good in the drawing page.   Morning Board (Yup!
