2021-2022 Week 6

 History

We learnt about the New Netherlands (New York Colony) this week and Baby Sis drew a windmill. Lil Sis was going to make a model and I'm waiting for her to be done.

For Earth Science, Lil Sis learnt about rocks and we got this set of rock collection for observation. It was a fun unit!

We also started our very first co-op for Botany. I cannot believe I didn't take ANY picture.

We are almost done with "Almost Home"!

9th Grade

Big Sis had quite a bit of stuff this week!

She learnt about Canada. I love her drawing of Anne of Green Gables.

Because of the 50 cities book, she borrowed this one and it's as pretty!

She love all the map exercises!

And she made an AMAZING dinner of maple pulled pork with home-made buns and maple coleslaw!

Chemistry:

Some fun experiments this week: microwave wavelength

wavelength of different chemicals: Salt (normal), Cupric Sulphate (the green one) and Strontium Chloride (red one)

11th Grade
Big Bro did another practice SAT test this week and improved by another 30 points! I have been quite happy with how Khan helps him practice and learn.

Other Happenings
Lil Sis made her own home-made mac-and-cheese. Yummy.

Lil Sis drew Harry Potter's Huffle Puff. =)

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
