2022-2023 Week 2

This week we did more states practice and we also started Story of the World (Vol 4). This will be our spine this year. We are going down by the chapters, and stopping when we have more materials to cover, using lapbook/notebook materials from Homeschool in the Woods.

Every chap has reading/listening, quiz (google quiz or oral review), mapwork, and some activities.

This was a great visual to teach why the sun never sets on the British Empire.

This was an example of the google quiz. I took a sample of review questions from the Student Activity Book.

Actions and Reactions Grade 5 Science

This is how Baby Sis does her science. She will read on her own, fill up worksheets I give her and read some books! (Guesthollow's Actions and Reactions curriculum added some reading, activities, and vides to the spine book)

Some experiments we did on density.

10th Grade

Big sis started doing some prep for CLEP (Biology). She is using Modern States and also REA study guide we borrowed from the library. She is independently studying for the test!

She also started reading the Nerfertiti Book for History

She continued her work in Algebra II and Physics as well.

Here is her doing an experiment for velocity. It took her quite a while to do it independently.

Kindergarten

Wee Bro finished Days 5-7 of Creation and made a cover for the book with me.

He also did other fun skills stuff.

This is the bible he re listened to after we finished all the days of Creation.

Love the "Wednesday" he wrote for his daily book!

Duolingo ABC is a really fun app for him!

He made 8 beads!

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet. The five senses Tongue the Ear The Skin The Eye Skeleton Joints Long Bone Tooth Brains Spinal Cord Digestive System Stomach The Lungs The Heart The Urinary System The Muscle Look through all our experiments and videos here .
