MFW Exploration to 1850 WEEK 15: Seven Year War, Mammals

Bible

This week we memorized 2:13-17
And then I realized we need much revision. So we stopped memorizing new verses and will use two weeks to revise the past verses.
We use the fighterverse app for revision. It is very good!

History
We learnt about George Washington and the seven year war.
The seven year war was very confusing. We watched one interesting video about it but I think we need more reading about it.

And we FOUND our book! =) So we continued reading Madeleine. We will finish next week.

Language
We continued with Spelling power and Rod and Staff.

Science
This week we learnt about mammals.

Lil Sis reads the Complete Book of Science.

I asked the kids to make pages of mammals they would be interested in or they are unfamiliar with. Big Sis HAD to do one on bunnies since they are her favorite.

Then she read up on hyraxes.

This is Lil Sis' page.

Big Bro made pages on the fox, cougar, and the horse.
They LOVE making the Science pages.

Art
We are using Artistic Pursuits K-3 (Book 2) this year.

We made paintings of "Cool colors" this week.

Books we read for leisure

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
