2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 5

Bible
Roman verses
I made powerpoint slides (this is an example) to help with the memory. This year I decided to add in some American Sign Language to aid memorization. This site is so helpful with it!

History
Education and Literature
These little booklets for on Roman literature are cute!

We did an ad on the newspaper. Look at the one Baby Sis did. =) It was supposed to be "Ovid".
Another newpaper article on the Julian Calendar

A fun way to learn the Roman numerals

Fun "brochure" of the Bath.

Science
Eye

We did the Body Book Model of the eye. It was fun to do it again.
The Body Models that we did the last time were all here

We learnt about the ears and sound waves

We did a ear accordian book from this book (by the way, we got this when it was free. I probably won't pay $7 for this) and also a fun test online.

We have enjoyed some of the vides from this channel. We watched some fun ones for ears. Like, why do we get dizzy, or what are earwax for?

Art

We learnt about the arts in Rome. The girls made their own mosaic. The last one is by Lil Sis and she hasn't completed yet. They did an amazing job!

8th Grade
Big Sis did an DNA extraction experiment this week, but it did not work. I think we should use more apples than was told.
But, Apologia's video came to the rescue. I remember there was one done during quarantine.

She watched it and it was so helpful!

Big sis did so well this week in her tests. She had 4! I'm proud of her conscientious work.

A little fun fact here. Sometimes for school days, I'll make "lunch boxes" the night before. (like this one is rice balls with nori, fruits, and jell-O) This makes the school day so much better. After school (about 11am) I can even take a walk with Wee Bro, and come home in time for lunch (because it is all made).

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet. The five senses Tongue the Ear The Skin The Eye Skeleton Joints Long Bone Tooth Brains Spinal Cord Digestive System Stomach The Lungs The Heart The Urinary System The Muscle Look through all our experiments and videos here .
