Summer 2015

Summer is here!! Here are our plans for this summer.

First mommy had to set some ground rules. I think it is always good to start off right.

We don't do summer camps. Here are our lofty plans for the warm days.
1. Vacation with family (our annual one)
2. Library Looting Time!

We love to be able to READ for fun this summer!!! We use goodreads to track our reading.

3. Cooking
I intend to teach the kids more cooking in the summer. One thing I really enjoyed doing this year was to have a child help me at dinner every day. It has been wonderful and I think they have learnt quite a bit of life skills.

Big Sis' specialty is now Creme Brulee French Toast. They are SOOOO delicious.

Crack about 4-5 eggs.

Beat them with about a cup or more of milk and a tsp of vanilla.

Melt 1/4 cup butter (or more) and pour into pan.

Sprinkle brown sugar and then place bread on top.

Pour egg mixture over the bread.

Bake at 400 deg for about 10 mins, flip (now the gooey sugar mixture will be on top), broil for 2 mins. The top will be crunchy like creme brulee and the bread soft like pudding. SOOOO YUMMY!!!

4. LOTS of sun and play
We will be out at the playground A LOT. Riding bikes, playing, running...

5. Of course, we will still have to do some school to prevent rusting.
Mainly, they will finish their Rod and Staff English (probably takes less than half of the summer) and also Math (4B and 2B). They will also do some Chinese worksheets just for revision.

Can't wait!!!

    1. Hi Meg! How have you been?? Yes, it is a motorized whisk attached to handblender, but we use it like a whisk. We really like Rod and Staff, even my children. =)

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
