A Day in the Life of the Su's

September 8th 2015

6:00am Big Bro and Big Sis woke. Self work. Piano practice. Reading. And goodness knows what else they did. (Lil Sis, Daddy and I were sound asleep of course)

6:30am Baby Sis came into our room and said she needed to use the toilet. That woke ME up. After that, she joined BB and BS to do goodness knows what they did outside. I read my bible, checked emails that came in the night.

7:18am Mommy made breakfast and lunch for daddy (Baby Sis helped out with the egg)
At the same time, Big Bro read a chapter of "Carnivorous Carnival" (A series of unfortunate events) to me.
7:34am Breakfast. Today we had no bake granola, a new attempt Mommy did the night before.

Having breakfast with daddy is a luxury many children do not have. We are blessed.

7:46am Facetime with grannies in Singapore.
That is another luxury not every child has and we treasure these times. Then "bye bye" to daddy!

7:55am Clean up. Get ready for school.

SCHOOL
Most of this time, Baby Sis was on her own.
8:02am Bible was first. Today we started bible memory of the Roman Verses. They did a copywork of the verse.

Concurrently Lil Sis did her daily math and beading

8:18am Review of New Testament books in Chinese.
Then Lil Sis copied her proverbs verse

8:26am We put on timer for 6 minutes and did spelling for both Big Bro and Big Sis and Lil Sis did some math.

8:29am Yes, right about now, I hear a "DONE~~~~!!" from the bathroom. Baby Sis finished her work at the bathroom and needed help. (This is when I juggled FOUR kids all at once) Along in the day, I hear about 3 more times of "DONE~~~!" that I needed to interrupt what I was doing to go help.

8:36am English from the roots up. The kids learnt "novem" today.

8:38am History Time. Lil Sis took a break and went to play with Baby Sis. Today we learnt that Octavian became Augustus Caesar.

9:07am Lil Sis was called back to do Science with us. Today we did a model of the tongue.

9:20am We did Chinese for all three kids.

9:31am The older two listened to half a chapter of "Bronze Bow" on the audiobook while Mommy did phonics with Lil Sis. She needs more work in her reading.

9:58am Art. Today we learnt to draw a house in perspective.
10:29am For the past 10 minutes Big Bro tried hard to do his corrections in Math while the girls cleaned up. Now he decided he was going to try later.

10:40am We got ready and went downstairs for some sun. A bit too much sun today.
11:15am We came up, the kids took a bath, and mommy prepared lunch. At the same time the girls helped me made smoothie Popsicles for another day.
11:52am LUNCH TIME! SUPER simple one today.

12:27pm Quiet Time began. The older ones had self work" to do, and the little ones had to learn to be quiet and do quiet things. Then, mommy put on her eye patch and ear plugs, and went to nap.
2:26pm CLEAN UP TIME! Everyone took part.

2:36pm Video Time. (And snack at the same time) During this time mommy marked the work they did for self work.
After that they went to play.

4:01pm Mommy went through some work with the older ones and read the other half chapter of "Bronze Bow"

4:35pm Dinner prep! Today Lil Sis is the helper. We made the first Tater Tot Casserole.

At the same time Big Bro wrote some stories and Big Sis was drawing.

4:55pm Piano Time. Mommy taught the girls piano (we are striving for once a week)

Baby Sis took this time to play with play doh.

5:34pm Big Bro is my trash man. He brought out the trash.
5:43pm Daddy's home and we had dinner! Again, not many daddies come home this early in NYC to have dinner with the family and we are thankful.

6:12pm (yes we do eat fast) Family Bible Time. Today we finish up Proverbs 10.

We made a system of printing out the verses and put them under the plastic on the table so our table does not have to be very clean at bible time. The bold printed words are words Lil Sis can read on her own.

Then it is tooth-brushing time, daddy time, reading time, chill out time

7:00pm Good night to kids!
They DO NOT sleep at 7pm but they are in the room.

7:20pm Mommy started this blog post. =)

Later Mommy Daddy will clean up, relax, have mommy daddy time and sleep! =)

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!
