MFW K: S-s Sun

These are the books we read for the S-s Unit. As usual, we loved Hurry Granny Annie and Bear Shadow the best.

We got to a bundle in the craftsticks cup!
After that I put them into two cups. I found that this visual aid really helps the child to learn place value.

I let the child paint instead of color for the cards.

I love the intensity shown in this girl.

Cuisenaire rods

She worked very hard to keep her "S"s in the lines.

We did shadow drawing, using the flashlight on my phone. =)

Made another art work.

Tactile "S", I think using any kinesthetic way helps! =)

The "motto" page. I also memorized to her John 8:12

Jesus spoke the people once more and said, "I am the light of the World. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, for you will have the light that leads to life."

We ate sunflower seeds. =)

We did an artwork on Van Gogh's Sunflowers and talked about how the earth moves and how the sun shines on different part of earth.

We did a pop up book that I downloaded a while ago.

And this year we will be making a Kindergarten quilt. I'm so excited for this project.

We also watched the Sesame Street Podcast "S"

And we watched part of "Reading Rainbow", "My Shadow" on Amazon Prime and the "S" foods on the "ABC foods" app that Baby Sis REALLY loves.

A mini side note, while I was lamenting this is the last year I get to enjoy K, God gave us a gift! A real surprise! =) So, I guess it WON'T be the last year I get to enjoy K (God willing)

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet. The five senses Tongue the Ear The Skin The Eye Skeleton Joints Long Bone Tooth Brains Spinal Cord Digestive System Stomach The Lungs The Heart The Urinary System The Muscle Look through all our experiments and videos here .
