2020-2021 10th Grade Week 24

Haven't updated on our highschooler for a while. He had finished his half credit courses (Intro to Film and Personal Finance).

Chemistry continued to be somewhat difficult at times. I tried to find videos for him (Khan Academy is very very helfpul). Then I was really excited to do the Titration Experiment!

We used the purple cabbage solution I froze a year back. Still works.

But the experiment did not. SO disappointed. I am not sure if we did it wrong, or the experiment design was poor. =(
I have to say I am a little disappointed with Masterbooks Chemistry. I feel that they try to cramp too complex concepts (sometimes TOO complex) into too few pages. Then I had to find other ways to help him understand. Then the quizzes were asking a little too much. My personal opinion. Also we had a few blotched experiments, which I am rather disappointed about.

Other than that, he is starting to do Experiencing God bible studies and I made him worksheets to write in instead of using the book.

He also continues with his history (Notgrass), Geometry (EasyPeasy), foreign language with me, and bible (Heroes of the faith). He also read many British Literature. Sparknotes helped a lot with some tough books.

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
