2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 27

This week we learnt about Medieval India.

The highlight was...we made Naan. =) I think I like naans better than chapatis, that's why.

Always good to put things into the time-line and see where things are!

We did a lapbook component on the Gupta Empire The girls chose some questions and answers for the trivia envelope.
We also watched a video of saris and I told them the story of how I learnt to wear the sari and the classical Indian dance for one performance in Secondary School. That was fun.
Last day we talked about Christopher Columbus and started this lapbook component to be filled in later.

Science
We learnt about the space rocks. It was quite fun!

Last week we actually watched the Mars Rover landing. It was really cool!

We are "reading" Dangerous Journey through here. It is quite fun, though old.

For 1 John, we are watching this series as a family, and I did bible study worksheets for the girls. I found it to be very inspiring and generated some discussions.

8th Grade
Big Sis is doing the Kingdom Protista and she did most of the reading in the Apologia Biology book. We did one lab survey here And this is a fascinating pond life microscope video

She is also going to do a Progeny Press Literature study on the Indian in the Cupboard.

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
