2020-2021 Rome to Reformation Week 26

This week we learnt about medieval Africa.

I made this lapbook component for the girls to write in after listening to Story of the World and also the reading from Streams.

I really like this video that teaches on how the geography of Africa shapes its history.

We also started a bible study on 1 John, using this materials. It is REALLY good! I'm planning to watch the sermon series with the girls and do the study (I made my own worksheets, simplified from this materials).

For Science we finished up some projects we forgot to do last week for moon

Got to love the Oreos Moon phases "craft"!

Lapbook component

We then learnt about Mars and made a lapbook component. We are also very excited to see that the rover Perseverance will be landing on Feb 18!

Other things

Big Sis finished her Kingdom Monera unit (using Apologia). I made worksheets for her and she reviewed it well, got 100% on the Apologia test. She will go on and finish all the kingdoms using Apologia materials (mainly) instead of Masterbooks.

On the side note, Wee Bro started reading Mercy Watson (OH HOW WE LOVE THAT SERIES!!) and from one of the books he learnt about popcorn and so we made some. =)

And it's the Lunar New Year!! =) We had our annual feasting. LOVE IT!

Online Resources: Sesame Street Games

I love the Sesame Street Games ...I think they are the best for preschoolers. They teach important concepts, at the same time, making computer skills real easy. For eg, there is no "click and drag"...that's hard for them...there's "click" "move" "click". There are some games Ian really likes...(click on photo for the games) That's the Wheels on the Bus song (you press the keys foe interactive movements) Patterns. Seasons. Fun for the kids. Walking the dogs...numbers. This is alltime favorite. First you make a pitcher of lemonade. Then depending on how many monsters come, you click however many cups. I love it!

Science 2015/2016: Human Body Recap

We really had fun learning about the Human Body this year. I thought it would be meaningful to consolidate our learning. We enjoyed the Body Book more than I thought we would. I did do most of the cutting though. We also enjoyed the different videos we watched and the experiments. I think this is the most successful science year yet.
